Overcoming Worry & Anxiety
Every believer in Christ should know this firmly: You are greater than the devil, because the One in you is greater. You can resist the devil. You can rebuke and command him out of your head, your life, your family, your situation.

Worry is an area Satan uses against the believer regularly. There is always the temptation to be anxious about our problems and figure out how to fix them by ourselves. God, however, gives us a different way to deal with anxiety. Below I have outlined six steps you can take to deal with anxiety from 1 Peter 5:6-10. I hope it helps you.
1. Humble yourself – 1 Peter 5:6
Worry is a sign of pride. We want to be in control of our situation and feel that it’s our place to fix it. When we realize that our problems are bigger than us, we become anxious and overwhelmed.
God’s way is humility. Accept that you can’t fix it on your own and hand it over to God. He’ll exalt you above those limitations in due time.
2. Cast ALL of it to God once and for all – 1 Peter 5:7
Philippians 4:6-7; Matthew 11:28-30
“Casting” denotes “throwing off” or “abandoning” – dropping those problems at His feet that they no longer are your problems, but God’s. Let that sink in for a minute: You can actually tell God, “This is no longer my problem. It’s yours now, handle it!” and you back off. Haha
3. Watch out for the devil’s ploys. – 1 Peter 5:8
Satan knows as well as God that those problems won’t kill you. He knows that they are not as serious as you think they are. He even knows that God loves you and God is working out for your good. But then you have failed to acknowledge these, and he (Satan) will capitalize on your ignorance. He’ll whisper in your ears continually, making you focus on the problems rather than on God. This then attacks your emotions, attacks your prayer life, attacks your mental wellbeing, etc. Watch out for the adversary. No good comes from him. When you observe his schemes, shut it down. Guard your heart and keep your focus on God.
4. Resist the devil in faith. – 1 Peter 5:9
Every believer in Christ should know this firmly: You are greater than the devil, because the One in you is greater. You can resist the devil. You can rebuke and command him out of your head, your life, your family, your situation. James 4:7 says, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” He WILL (not may, not perhaps, not might, he will) flee. Resist him and be firm / steadfast about it.
5. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone – 1 Peter 5:9
One lie the devil uses to hold us down sometimes is that we are alone, that God is after us alone. One of my Bible students once said, “I feel like I’m God’s love child for problems.” Haha. No. You’re not alone. Every believer has the same adversary working against God’s purpose in our lives and bringing trials our way. BUT then, every believer has the same God who’s working out everything for each of our good; and He never fails. Get support from your Christian brothers & sisters and provide them support as well. Together, you’ll all pull through those challenges, and reach the light at the end of that tunnel.
6. Hold on to the promise – 1 Peter 5:10
God will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. It may not look like that right now, but He will. If there is anything I’ve come to know about God in my really short life / Christian race, it’s that He does not lie. There is no single lie in His scriptures. Not one! He is true. He is truth. He has said He will settle you, and He will. Believe it and hold on to it; and you will see the salvation of the Lord.
